Our second graders are experimenting with beet plants that they started from seed. Each student has two plants: a control plant and an experimental plant. Students then introduce different variables to the experimental plant: water with salt water, place under a grow light, deprive it of light, to name a few. Measurements are recorded, samples are taken, and predictions are made. This hands-on experience will take these young botanists far!
